10/6/2001 - Floor and Sills Finished
Spent this weekend on my back. Unfortunately there
was no one on top of me. I was welding the floor and sills.
While I was down there I had a couple of hours
scrapping the dreaded waxoyl and underseal off. I have now completely
stripped (back to bare paint) the chassis and floor pan up to
the point where it kicks up over the back axle. I intend to stoneguard
the whole of the floor and (hopefully) somehow get under the car
and spray it body colour (Daytona Yellow). Somehow methinks this
will be too much grief and I'll end up undersealing it again.
I have now finished the floor pan, having replaced
inner and outer sills on both sides and the drivers floor pan
and plated over a few smaler areas. I have not 'cheated' - I cut
out the old panels before welding in the new ones and the 'jobs
a good un' so I'm happy. I've finshed the panels off with a run
of seam sealer over all the welded areas and joins and coated
the lot in grey primer for now.
